2006 Ford ExplorerSUV lady - The Woodlands, TX05/14/2007
I had a Ford Explorer in 1995 and this one is so different. It reminds me of a Toyota LandCruiser that I owned in 1997 except this one has much better acceleration. The cruiser was the original four cylinder engine that Toyota made. I love my car and I get excited every time I drive it.

The Ford Explorer is a good value for the money. However, I am disappointed with the mileage. At this time, I get about 15 on the road and 12.5 around town. After trading in a full size SUV that got almost 20, I am somewhat baffled. Other than this issue, the vehicle is very nice.
"New" & Improved

We traded in a 2003 Exlporer XLT and we've been very pleased so far. The 2006 has many improvements. It is such a comfy ride, plenty of space for driver and passengers. It's also a quieter ride (we found the 2003 to be very noisy). We lost some perks that are definitely missed (keypad entry, rear air control, automatic lights) and we had to add running boards (a necessity for us). There are a few things that need to be fixed but all should be covered in the 30 day warrenty. With only 4000 miles, we are very satisfied with our "new" car.
In this Ford Explorer review, we dig into the best features of this popular midsized, 3-row SUV. Our review includes a close look at the 2017 Ford Explorer trims, including the powerful, capable Explorer Sport and Explorer Platinum.
