Lots of space and amenities, quiet ride with enough power to accelerate. Handles nicely. Better fuel economy than previous versions
Nice change from a mini-van
2011 Ford ExplorerBadee - Oklahoma03/14/2012
Drove my 2004 Nissan Quest until it was literally falling apart. We spent a lot of time looking at options for our family of 5. I knew I didn't want to go the mini-van route again (just because, no real good reason), but finding a smaller SUV that could compete with our van was a BIG challenge. Our search finally brought us down to a Honda Pilot, Ford Explorer, and Buick Enclave. The Pilot was nice, but drove too much like a truck for me. The Enclave drove nice, had center bucket seats (something I knew I'd miss from my van) and a nice appearance on the inside, but had very little cargo space in the back and an uncomfortable 3rd row seat. It also felt a little "big". Interesting considering I had been driving a van the size of a Suburban :-) We opted for the Explorer because it drove well (smooth, like a car), had good handling, had USB connections and bluetooth for phone and streaming audio. The interior feels cozy, the front buckets are very comfortable, and the 3rd row is REALLY comfortable. It's usually just me in the car, but when we all need to go, it's a good ride. The only negatives we have hit so far: yucky blind-spot on the sides, but the blind spot mirros do a good job of counteracting that, and the clock won't stay set (evidentally FORD is working on a software update for it). Nice well in the back for groceries. The Sync takes some effort to figure out, but works great. All around, a good vehicle. I drive mostly highway and am averaging 20-22 mpg.
New Ford Explorer Limited
2011 Ford ExplorerFord Sceptic - Utah12/26/2012
Being a Chevy guy I was quite impressed with this new Ford Explorer Limited. We took it on our first road trip and got an outstanding 22 miles per gallon the best part was is we were hauling four people with all of our lugage and it still got great gas milage. As for power Ford has done a great job with the horsepower this thing gets up and goes, I've since added a K&N cool air intake and it has helped the throttle response that much more. The interior is also amazing from the Sony sound to the leather heated and cooled seats to the dual sun roof windows this thing is loaded and luxurios I can't think of anything else I would add. I would definatly recomned this vehicle Ford has truely out done themselves in luxury and performance.
