I took a chance on this truck knowing Ford has had reliability issues in the past. My brief experience with this truck, before I returned for a refund only, reinforced this concern. The truck, an EcoBoost 3.5L V6 version, was experiencing significant Engine Timing Cover Oil Leak at only around 40k miles. Online searches turned up many others complaining of the same problem. Also, take this for what it's worth but online searches of the EcoBoost 3.5L V6 F150 turned up a lot of complaints of sudden loss of power on highway under acceleration as well which I found to be pretty alarming. I will admit I was impressed with the acceleration but I never did get close to the advertised MPG stated by Ford even when I was driving conservatively.
Versatile, comfortable and reliable truck

I bought this truck because I needed the power to pull an 8500 pound trailer. The Ecoboost turbo handles it with ease. Decent everyday mileage for a pickup, 17.5 (with stringent Calif smog equipment). Smooth and quiet ride. Even smoother when towing. Nice features. Only drawback seems to be an occasional hard downshift at very low speeds, like going over speed bumps in parking lots. But it has over 100k miles, so stuff happens. Overall, very happy with it.
Best band for the buck in a truck.

Mine is a Lariat 5.4L supercab 4x4...overall an outstanding vehicle...other the lousy fuel economy (13.5 city) the only other peeve is the acceleration hesitation I suspect is due to emissions controls....but hey this is a truck and prolly the most comfortable and reliable vehicle I have owned to date, plus it tows up to 15K.
The Ford F-150, the top-searched vehicle on carmax.com in 2017, has a heck-raising version called the SVT Raptor. Love it or not, the Ford Raptor is impossible to ignore. It rules the road (and dirt, mud, sand, etc.)!
