I purchased my Five Hundred about two months ago, and I am extremely pleased with the car at this point (39k miles...purchased with 36k). The car is exactly what I want for my all-too-frequent trips out of town (200-mile round trip type drives). It's quiet, comfortable, and exceedingly roomy (leg room in the back is ridiculous, not that that matters in my car, but it's nice for leeches....uh, tag-alongs). I personally love the CVT transmission in my particular model. It takes some getting used to, but I love that you can step on it, and the RPMs will just stay in the power zone until you get up to your desired speed. I've seen this car described as doggy or underpowered, and I'm just not seeing it. I think it has plenty of pickup and plenty for passing, even if you're doing 80....well, let's say 70...when you start your pass. It doesn't have some of the nicer accoutrements that more expensive cars have, but it has everything I want for my everday driving (comfort, acceptable....20-25mpg....gas mileage, plenty of pickup for those over 25 years old, and an enormous trunk). I personally like the styling, but that's a personal issue so is really unimportant. I loved the 300M when it came out, for example. When I drove one, though, I felt like I couldn't see anything. The Five Hundred allows for excellent visibility, and the side mirrors (though larger than I'd have chosen) allow you to see into your blindspot completely on the passenger side and almost entirely on the driver side (but you still better check). Anyway, I'm very happy with this car, and with the price of it, it pushes it up into 5-star territory, IMHO. All the best... Steve
It's been a year since i purchased this car. Our first trip to FL from NC on I95 was a breeze, Smooth ride and plenty of power and can easely keep up with other high powered sedans, at 90 mph , the car felt very stable and secure, thanks to the navi we were able to avoid tolls roads and traffic jams on major cities. When turning, be careful not to steer to close otherwise you would wearout the inside edge of the front tires. The remote start it's a plus specially during those uncomftable temperatures.
The car is well built and has a very solid feel to it when driven. So far I have only driven it in relatively dry conditions but it was very responsive and handled nicely during one excessive rain fall. The car has a very comfortable centof gravity andtakes tight turns nicely. I did a lot of research before I bought the 500 and everything checked out to be above average. I like it and so do my passengers!
