Ford Ranger Longbed
The Ford Ranger is great! Easy to drive, holds lots of cargo, and is really good on gas. I am very happy with my purchase.
2D Standard Cab, 2009 Ranger
I bought this small truck in August 2010 for the specific purpose of having my 16-yr-old daughter drive a separate vehicle from the rest of our family while she learns to drive. USDOT statistics about teenage driver safety show that teens are safer when they have fewer passengers in the car when they are still new young drivers therefore, I was interested in buying a vehicle without a back seat but yet large enough to provide adequate protection in the event of a collision. Ford's basic small pickup fit these requirements nicely, especially with the 2.3L/4-cyl engine with auto trans, an ecomomical MPG rating of 19/24, and dual airbags. My other priority was to buy one only slightly used, to avoid second-hand trucks employed for delivery services and mobile contractors. Overall, I expect this vehicle to serve my daughter quite well, especially through college, and provide safe and economical transportation. The interior of the standard Ranger is very basic, so set your expectations low. Necessity interior only. Low-end radio. No carpeting, not even floormats, so I had to buy those separately. I recommend Husky brand mats because they fit the standard cab small trucks fairly well, but you will probably want to unscrew the floor threshold panels and use them to clamp-in-place any pan-style floormats you put in, so they don't slide around on the plastic floor.
