I needed to upgrade to a larger vehicle after the birth of my first child so I started looking for a SUV because I didn't want any sliding doors. I wanted a larger vehicle but not a van. I am very happy with the Taurus X. I have the Limited version which has a lot of upgrades like a dvd player for the back seats with wireless headphones, bucket seats in the back, a navigation system, air plane AC vents in the middle row and back row, AWD and all the seats fold flat for extra cargo space. There is a lot of leg room and you don't feel cramped which makes road trips nice. This car had everything I wanted and I plan to keep it for a while. It drives very smooth, like a car and it is high so it's not hard to get into or out of, which really comes in handy when strapping little ones in car seats (no more climbing in the car to strap them in). The only thing is they are known to have transmission issues so I DEFINITELY recommend the extended warranty. My transmission went out 6 months after I bought it at about 88,000 miles but since I bought the extended warranty it was all covered except my deductible. I only bought the 125,000 mile warranty and I kinda wish I had bought the 150,000 mile one. Overall I love it.
My wife and I purchased our 2008 Taurus X in the spring of 2009 with a little over 50,000 miles on it. Since then, we have put 110,000 miles on the car and absolutely love it. It has never given us any problems, gets great fuel economy, and is very spacious and flexible. We love the vehicle and will be driving it for as long as we can.
With a new house and a baby on the way we knew we needed a new vehicle. After looking at hybrids and high gas mileage cars the cross overs size, seating capacity and comfort really stood out to us. Of all the cross overs we looked at, the Taurus X was a brand we were familiar with and the fold down seats, 6 person seating and massive cargo space meant it was perfect. The adjustable pedals and seats sealed the deal as they would allow my Wife to move the padals up to account for her growing belly.
