I wasn't looking for a Taurus, I needed a family car and wanted something like a small SUV or Mini Van. When I test drove this car I was in love. It is a smooth ride and extremly comfortable. It is V6 so it has some getty up!! Its also great on gas and has an extremly large backseat, good for families with multiple children. The trunk is also very large, I keep a stroller and a pack in play in mine at all times, and still have plenty of room for all my groceries.
I did tons of research on this car before I bought it, and have to say that I couldn't be happier. It's roomy and comfortable, gets great mileage for its weight and safety ratings (which, by the way, are superior to all other cars in its class), handles very well (stops quickly, accelerates well, turns beautifully), and is great so-far in terms of reliability. I honestly thought this would be a good car to see me through raising my family and middle-age, and then I'd get a fancier Lexus or something, but the more I ride in this car, the more I realize that this is, basically, my ideal car. Fantastic for all of the practical reasons, plus so many things to make it fun to drive and luxurious-feeling.
I spent two days on the CarMax car lot looking at cars. I probably passed by this car a dozen times because it said Ford and Taurus. Never was impressed with the old Ford Taurus line of cars so why waste my time with this one. On the last day I began to give up and my wife suggest this beautiful black car that she saw between two other cars. I said "wow...that's a nice looking car". When I went to look at the back of it I said "Oh No"..."No Fords and especially no Taurus". Well, I reluctantly took it for a test drive because I was tired of looking and well...I bought the car. This car is so underrated. This interior is Luxury. The drive is Luxury. The features belong in a high-end car. The ride and control is awesome. The engine...well if you are not careful, you could get whip lash. This thing will go. I have had the car for two months and people are still stopping me and asking me about it. If you don't want to spend the money on a BMW or a 300 class Benz but you want all the features...this is it. Gas mileage is currently 20mpg. Now I am all spoiled and want a 2012 Taurus.
