I initially purchased this vehicle to provide for around town use and some long distance travel as a third vehicle. After inspecting the Taurus after the purchase and updating a few things that I wanted to make perfect, I started driving the car first around town then on a 1200 trip. Around town the performance was more than adequate and quickly discovered that the mileage was better than advertised. The Taurus has provided a consistent 20+ MPG around town and will easily keep up with the Audi, BMW and Benz vehicles. The Camry was initially considered, but its size, performance, interior noise levels and presence on the road was inferior to the Taurus. Highway driving again revealed a surprise in that the vehicle was very stable, quite and delivered a consistent 30 MPG at 70+ MPH. After a 600 initial leg of the trip I was not tired or stiff. All the systems worked as advertised by Ford and no defects have been found. Since I am an Aerospace Engineer as well as a military and commercial pilot, I am very detailed with inspections and assessing the engineering and performance aspects of a vehicle, aircraft or motor. General assessment is that this vehicle is worth a look if you are not so tied to a brand that nothing else will do.
For a mid-size car, it is roomy in the rear which allows those with long legs a comfortable ride. Although it is not a "muscle car" it has plenty of get up and go and can hold its own against similar vehicles when it comes to acceleration. Gas mileage is decent and when traveling on long trips it offers a comfortable ride.
I would recommend this car for people who love sporty and like to take family and friends out,All the features that come with the car makes any car around the same price line look like a joke in my view. Fun twin turbo v6 and the AWD makes it a beast in any weather, smooth and comfort road trips with a lot of trunk space would make it ideal for your next beach trip or to the snow.
