After Prius

I just gave up a '07 Prius (accident) and found the Civic hybred with low mileage and decided to give it a try. I have driven the car for 2 months and feel the same way I felt with the Prius. VERY SATISFIED.

Get this hybrid if you can find one!

This is such a great little car that even though I originally bought it for my daughter to learn to drive on, I have been taking it everywhere instead of my Honda Accord. For me, miles per gallon have been around low 40s both around town and on the highway. It has plenty of power and I love the quiet at stoplights when it goes into a special kind of sleep mode that instantly goes back off when you take your foot off the brake. The car has intergenerational appeal -- it looks great to me as well as to my teenager. The drawbacks are few and really depend on what you need. For example, the undercarriage rides pretty low, so it's probably not the car for you if you have to negotiate a rural gravel driveway that might be too high in the middle for this car. The trunk is roomier than I expected, but it's still a Civic so don't expect too much. Likewise, storage in the driver area includes cup holders and a glove compartment but not much more. Still, this car will win you over, if you can find one that someone was actually willing to part with!
