This is a fantastic commuter car. I drive 130 miles a day round trip, five days a week for work. I have gotten up to 42.5 miles per gallon on the highway and my average is 37.5 miles per gallon for an entire take of gas. I do a lot of high traffic driving in the Washington DC area, so this kind of mileage is great! The car handles great and is pretty comfortable for its size and class. Bang for the buck, you really can't go wrong. Yes, there are cars on the market that get better mileage, but Honda's long term reliability is hard to beat.
Good build quality that's both fun and economical

For basic transportation this generation of Civic is intrinsically fun to drive. The handling is spirited and acceleration is lively, especially with the manual transmission. Visibility is somewhat compromised with the coupe; it has thick A-pillars that obstruct some angles while making turns and small rear windows. The base sound system is more than adequate and the control layout of the dash is very easy to use. Compared to other coupes of this price range the Civic has a more usable back seat, especially with head room. Civics are rather noisy (wind and tire noise) but you can't have everything. With safety, frugality, style, and fun, this little Civic is a good first car for any kid.
It just does everything incredibly well.

After test driving many of its competitors, I found the Civic SI to be the highest overall quality. It isn't one of those cars that does any particular thing better than another, but it was the one I drove that I found did everything incredibly well. Comfort and driveability is on par for modern Honda, which means it typically "feels" like a higher-cost car. Acceleration is terrific and the exhaust note is outstanding, particularly over 4k (and I also own an S2000!). Distance driving is passable, but I'm considering swapping to a 16 or 17 inch wheel. It's a bit rough on segmented highways, but everything else is just fine. The interior is MUCH better quality than the competition, Ford should definitely be taking notes!
