My mechanic recommended we buy a Honda or Toyota when we mentioned our interest in a new car. This Pilot is smaller than the Armada we traded in but we needed to feel safe. Not only that, we do have room on a daily basis for the four of us as well as a nice cargo area at rear. The headroom is spacious and when we have guests we can use the third row for two passengers. I expected better fuel economy but it's better than what we had.
I have always loved the Honda Family, one of my first Honda was a Honda Civic brand new 11 miles off the lot.. Loved that car. Loved the Honda Accord as well. Love the Pilots because they have the Roll cage protection so if you are in an accident, yoiu are protected all the way around. Side bags all the way around as well. This is a 8 passenger, love it to because the grand babies can be in the middle watching DVD with headphones and you can still listen to the radio. The people in the back seat has the choice of headphones and movies or radio from the front.
This vehicle has served my family for 13 years. We've made more trips to FL for spring break than I care to remember. I do relate to the lack of cargo space other reviewers speak of, with two daughters a luggage rack topper and/or a trailer hitch platform was required, but that was only to provide each kid with a entire row of seating to eliminate fighting. I actually installed the tow package myself, as I did with the cross bars for the roof rack. Saved lots of money that way. The trailer hitch came in handy when moving the kids to Purdue dorms and back again. Oh the stories this vehicle could tell. 230,000 miles an no major issues, just maintenance of timing belts every 90k miles.
