I haven't had a car in years, so purchasing one as a big decision. Considering my budget and needs/wants, the list was narrowed down to Hyundai and a few other makes (all approved by my big brother!). Overall the Hyundai had it all: reliability, comfort, style, performance, safety, and a great price. This was an easy decision, and I am not disappointed.
The gas pedal on this car seems to be slippery to me. I find myself constantly adjusting my foot on the pedal. So I wear sneakers while I drive to obtain a better "grip" on the pedal. Also, water does not run off the car adequately. Water from rain or dew pours into the car if the windows are open!
I'm a car enthusiast who's also practical by nature. I've had Porsches, Subaru WRX, Mazda Miata etc, but also Chevy Metro and similar low budget cars. I traded a 2007 MINI Cooper for the Hyundai Accent because I'm putting on a great deal of mileage during my daily urban commute. I'm sacrificing open road glee for utility, but that said, the Hyundai isn't that much of a sacrifice. I have the five speed so the pick-up isn't bad and it basically shifts itself so bumper to bumper traffic is not too painfull on the left leg. I had it on an open interstate just after I bought it and found it runs better past 70 mph then in the 60-70 range...you just have to remember to push on the gas pedal to keep it there. The 5 yr/60,000 mile warranty is what caught my eye. I got the car in Oct 2010 with just over 6,000 miles and I'll probably reach the 50,000 mark within three years. It comes with roadside assistance which is another plus. My silver hatchback with spoiler looks sharp for an economy car and it's very roomy inside, including head room. The rear seats fold over and flip down to the floor, but I haven't tried that feature yet. All in all, I made the right decision for my current circumstances. Oh, gas mileage has hovered around 33 mpg combined city/highway, but I'm an early shifter and watch traffic flow to save on gas. It's not a MINI Cooper but it was $11,000 less than the used 2009 MINI on the lot with similar mileage. Yes, you get what you pay for and for what I paid, this was a great choice.
