We've owned Hyundais since 1986--more than one each of the Excel, Elantra, Sonata, Santa Fe models--but this is our first Azera. We bought an '09 Azera Limited with just over 12k miles. So far I would say that we are very pleased with the vehicle. Fit and finish on both the exterior and interior are excellent. The ride is smooth enough, but not super soft; road bumps are a bit more noticeable than I would prefer. Space is adequate in the rear seat for our two child seats with a person in between. The engine has a good deal of low-end torque and plenty of power when needed. In town we are averaging about 17-18 mpg. A recent 150 mile trip on the highway at 75-80 mph resulted in 25 mpg (in New Mexico at 5000-7000 elevation). There are two mechanical issues that may be related and may need attention. First, reviewers on other sites complain about uneven tire wear (cupping) resulting in vibrations. Our car has some very minor vibration at highway speeds but I do not know if the tires were ever rotated in the 12k before we bought it, and I have yet to rotate them myself to see if solves the problem. The original Michelins are fairly noisy tires, and I will not replace them with the same tire when the time comes. Second, there is a barely noticeable low-frequency "rubbing" noise coming from the front end between 15-25 mph. It is definitely tied to the speed of the wheels. My guess is that it is either related to uneven tire wear, or it might be a wheel bearing or brake/rotor problem. Whatever it is, it is so slight that I doubt most mechanics would notice it at this point, but I will have Hyundai take a look soon since the vehicle is still under the bumper-to-bumper warranty.
I just had my first oil change in my Azera and sat in the 2016 Genesis. The sales people say that it is a much bigger car, but my Azera feels huge, drives well, and has every amenity out there! The plush leather, the l.e.d. lighting on the doors, the gas mileage, the huge trunk. I could NOT be HAPPIER!
I have been very happy with my 2007 Limited Azera. Everyone told me not to buy it. But all the reviews were good so I test drove it and fell in love with it. I called my mechanic to ask his advise. He said to buy it. My husband also loved it and he fits comfortably. He's 6'3. I get about 25 miles street driving. It all depends how you drive it. I test drove alot of cars and for the price and all the toys its comes with it's a bargain.
