For consumers looking for reliable, basic transportation, the 2009 Elantra is a good choice. It is nearly identical to my old 2005 Toyota Corolla in nearly every respect. Gas mileage is consistently a combined 30 mph in warm weather. Acceleration and power are adequate. This vehicle fits my personal needs as a commuter car but it doesn't make a strong identity statement nor will anyone be blown away with its features. When considering a vehicle purchase, who can argue with a safe and dependable vehicle with a reasonable price?

I shopped around for a while then came across this Hyundai Elantra. It has good room performs well and above all great quality for the price. Love this car.
This is my second Elantra, I previously owned a 2000, and I am rather enjoying my upgrade. Before I purchased this Elantra, I read some reviews regarding lack of power and engine noise. After a 500 mile trip and multiple elevation changes over a mountain pass and through valleys, I can tell you I have had no such problem with power. The engine may be a bit louder than other cars, but I have never been bothered with it. I do wish there was better air circulation into the back seat, but think with the vents positioned differently I achieved that solution.
The windshield is larger than expected, and I had to purchase a larger sunshade, which I did, gladly. Small trade offs. The reverse gear in the Manual transmission is a bit different to get used to, the only thing I will say I would add or change or request, is an indicator that you have put it into reverse, a little light on the dash or something. I love how the seat adjusts, especially compared to the hunk of junk I was driving previous. I love the storage compartments. The trunk space is excellent, and the car handles great. Really, I am not hard to please with vehicles, I am not in any position to be picky but for the options I had, and the longevity I need, this is a great choice. Hyundais are often overlooked, and I am definitely a proud owner.
