Transmission: Automatic Color:Silver Interior Color: Gray Average Vehicle Review: (4.431 reviews) This is not a perfect car but it is a great value for commuting. It has a surprising amount of space for its size, both interior and cargo, and handles pretty well. I wouldn't want to have 4 adults and luggage in there for a long road trip, but packing around the family is no problem. It's a little light on power but I still can maintain highway speed going uphill. So far (~10,000 miles since I've had it, almost 60,000 overall) it has been reliable, no repairs needed. It's reasonably fun to drive and I get 34-35mpg (regular fuel) on the highway. Biggest downside is technology - the radio is bad and the speakers are average at best. No temperature reading (engine, cabin or outside) and no separate controls for anything for passengers.

great car, similar to small SUV

Great family car, decent gas mileage, similar to a smaller SUV. Has been good for road trips, as well as trips to home and garden center.

great car for the pricepoint

I have owned my Elantra Touring for about 18 months now. I stepped down from a Lexus 350, so that took some getting used to! I wanted a car that was a LOT less expensive, got great gas mileage, was reliable, could cart all my design stuff, and looked great. For my needs, I have been very satisfied. I mostly drive it around town and like the way it handles-easy to maneuver, quite decent mileage though not what was promised (I get 22 in town/ 26 hwy) I got the tan interior with sport fabric seats which are easy to clean and look great- front seats are very comfortable, back is fine for short trips and short people but not for long road trips. I am less pleased with the car when I have to drive long distances on the highway-it seems loud and the acceleration is not great. I am starting to get some rattling on passenger door. Of all the economy cars I looked at I thought the styling was the nicest-it has a very upscale European look. I got roof rails and am glad I did. Best thing I did was get them to throw in a 10 yr /100k warranty-they also gave me free oil changes for life. How can you pass up such low cost maintenance?! Overall an excellent smart choice.

Sleek, great mileage, roomy

This is a comfortable, nice looking, economical car. Wish I could have found the high end Elantra to get a little stronger engine, although the standard 4 cyl. is not bad. Would like an oil pressure gauge and radio controls on the steering wheel. Those are minor issues, but lots of upside. On interstate, we get the highway mileage rating. On backroads, even going through towns, we get 37 mpg. Backseat is roomy and so is the trunk. I would buy another one. Sunroof is great. Oil filter easy to get to. This was not one of the 3 cars we were considering. We drove Mazda 3, Ford Focus, and Chevy Cruz. Cruz was a close second for ride.
