I owned an 02 Hyundai Elantra 4dr, hatchback and absolutly adored that car, however, was in an accident and it was totalled. I decided to upgrade to an SUV and was able to find this vehicle. Overall, I like the vehicle, but miss some of the 'extras' from the Elantra. Driver seating - has less knee room and doesn't go back as far as in the Elantra. Overhead lighting - the overhead light when you open the car door is placed over the rear seat area and the map lighting in the front is very weak, you have to hold what you are looking at right up to the light. Trip readers - in the Elantra you have single trip and mpg. The Sante Fe does not calculate your mpg at all, has 2 trip readers Dashboard symbol placement - awkward Auto door lock - Does not lock all doors when car is placed in drive, and when you use the door lock button, you have to remember to unlock it if you wish to open any other door from the exterior Suspension - is great - very very smooth ride, not a lot of bouncing Rear seating - love that the seats have the ability to slightly recline for my rear passengers Cup Holders - my passengers like the rear cup holders, both in the console and the pull-down arm rest Tinted windows - took me a little while to get used to it but it is nice when riding in the daylight hours and really reduces the headlight glare at night Engine - good acceleration/deceleration, no bucking in low Exterior - like the black grillwork, it beefs up the front nicely and I personally like the shaping So, like I stated earlier, overall, I like my new (to me) Sante Fe
This is the first non USA car I have owned, save for a VW Passat that belonged to my parents. From the beginning I have enjoyed the car. My MPG has been around 24-25 on the interstate, even at above average speeds. The car is comfortable, sits higher than lots of other cars, and has quite a peppy engine. I barely have to touch the gas pedal to get going. The car was in incredibly good shape body wise, with no dings or scratches. It was a lease car, and had only 37000 miles on it. Looks new. Plenty of space for cargo, and came with a tow package. I discovered the MPG was cut considerlbly towing a small trailer on the highway, but I don't plan on using it to tow except around town, and then only occasionally. The 6 CD player is great! A few minor problems were corrected in the 30 day initial warranty period, and now everything appears to be good, and I look forward to years of driving.
Bought six years old with less than 40k miles I have great expectations of this car. Build seems solid except the plastic strip glued to the bumper is coming loose. Performance good. Gas mileage not quite as good as I had hoped based on the stickers. Getting about 21-22 on the freeway, 18 mixed. The sound system is not particularly good, at least not the radio with a lot of buzzing and static when I listen to talk radio.
