Just what I was looking for!

Roomy 4D crossover SUV in a smaller, more manageable size. Nice looking, low miles, decent MPG, reliable.

Great car for the money

I bought this car a month ago from CarMax. Just returned from a 1600 mile trip, and the car behaved perfectly. One of the reasons I bought this particular year was that they were still building V6 engines. The 2013 model doesn't have that option. The engine is so quiet I can't hear it. The handling is fairly hard, especially when there is nothing in the back of the vehicle - a little truck-like; but it feels positive and responsive. I have the Limited trim, which includes the navigation package. That is a complete waste of time. The navigation system is difficult to program, even with voice commands. The map database costs $199 every time you want to update it, and you need to do that every six months or so to get updated POI and road information. I bought a simple GPS for $149 that includes lifetime map updates, and is much easier to work - the display is much clearer. Overall, I'd say this navigation system is very poorly designed, so I wouldn't make that a deciding factor in buying this vehicle. The voice integration for controlling radio, phone etc is very good though. With my bluetooh phone connected to the car, I am totally hands free for all the adjustments I want to make, expect for cabin air environment etc. It would be nice to just be able to set things like cruise control and cabin temperature by voice command too. The stereo system is exceptional - great sound, and the XM is great. I love that there is a USB input, so you can just put what you want to listen to on a USB drive, plug it in to the dashboard, and listen to your audio books, BBC downloads, music etc. The CD player also reads MP3 discs, though that is redundant with the USB connection. Space management in the vehicle is great. There is a huge storage compartment under the floor of the trunk - I have the usual clutter - jumper cables, de-icer, quick-tire repair - all hidden away. And I can still load up my laptop and other stuff competely out of view. The one thing is doesn't have is a security screen that pulls out over the trunk space. The limited edition comes with a special mirror (can't tell you the name of the company apparently), that is supposed to allow you to control gates/garage door etc without having an extra remote. It doesn't work, unless you buy an expensive 'training' box from that company. This system is just a way to up-sell their products - I ignore that, and just use my good old garage door opener. The seats are very comfortable, and the Limited has electric adjustment of height, lumbar support, and position. It doesn't have a memory though - that would be nice, so two drivers could have different settings. At this price, you get a lot for your money. Overall I can't fault it. I'm sad that Hyundai have dropped the V6 engine, which is a great power-train. And buying it used, a five year warranty transferred, which is great - takes a lot of worry out of ownership.
