Purchased new in 2009 and haven't had to put one penny into it besides normal maintenance expenses. I wish I would have opted for power seats though! Manual seats aren't real comfortable on long trips. Ride is pretty rough, unless it's on smooth highways. Pot holes and small bumps can definitely drain on you over time. We even have the best tires money can buy. Suspension could be much improved but it is an SUV, so I get it. I also wish I would have purchased 4WD. An SUV with 2WD is rather pointless. Not bad in snow but, it's not great. Road noise is more than I'd like but not horrible. Cabin space and back seat comfort is good. Always drips oil from drain plug. New washers never help. Expect constant black spots where you park.
When I first sat in this car, I knew it was mine. I loved the way it felt sitting in the driver's seat. The steering wheel, the proximity to the dash board, the seat itself, was perfect for me. I've always had GM products, so this was quiet the change. I'll grant the Hyundai isn't as "solid" as my Yukon, but it's solid enough that I feel completely safe. And it's not "tinny" like some of the Japanese models I've taken on a test drive. Up front, there's enough leg room for my husband (6'5") (I drive due to his disability), and I've had 3 grandkids in the back seat (ages 4, 5 & 9) with no complaints. The engine runs smooth, average gas mileage is 22 in around town, and I am very happy with this car!!
I just bought the new Hyundai Santa Fe and I LOVE IT!! There is a nice new body style for 2007. I think it looks alot like a Lexus RX or an Acura RDX. The limited version has very nice leather seats and a sunroof. It has great pickup and rides very smoothly. The back seat has lots of leg room. The cargo area is a bit less roomy than other standard sized SUVs, but it has a really neat compartment where you can store alot of things "beneath the surface" of the trunk. So, that increases the space without bulking up the SUV. I highly recommend the 2007 Santa Fe to anyone who is looking to get a great value!
