Had this been a brand new vehicle, it would have received 4, possibly 5-stars: it has (almost) every amenity I want - the engine is considerably smaller (2.7l 6-cyl) than what I am accustomed to which DOES NOT equate to better fuel consumption. I mainly do highway/freeway driving, and to get the speed up to a matching level of on-going traffic does require some foot pressure on the accelerator or perform manual shifting (To add illustration to this, imagine going from a 3.6l 6-speed Sorento to a 2.7l 4-speed Santa Fe). Now, had I not experienced the Sorento PRIOR to this Santa Fe, I would be close to "hog heaven": sunroof, locking gas door, BLUE INTERIOR PANEL & CONTROL LIGHTS, XM radio with controls ON THE STEERING WHEEL, dual-tuned exhaust...yes, had I purchased this in '07 instead of the Sorento, I believe I would still be in a state of emotional recovery had it been totaled as was the case with my Sorento...despite the negatives, it is a nice vehicle.
I have had my Santa Fe since April of 2003. I have driven up and down the East Coast with my "truck" as I like to refer to it. It has been to Florida a couple of times and to West Virginia from North Carolina more times than I can count. The comfort of the seats is awesome! Mileage is not too bad considering that it's 6 cyl., AWD truck. I love the shape of it and that is one of the reasons I considered it because some of the SUVs looked too boxy for me. I have over 45k on it and have not had a lick of trouble. The price, to me, was very good for what I got. In fact, I got more than I bargained for because they made a boo-boo when mine came in so I got a sun roof and better sound system for half the price. As you can see I can't say enough about my Santa Fe. Though I do think the Tuscon's are awfully cute. LOL
Its a great vehicle, overall we are very happy to have purchase it. Its great on gas, handles easy, roomy and comfortable
