The 2008 Hyundai Tiburon SE V6 is one of just a few choices in the midpriced sports coupe segment. It is more affordable, has excellent build quality, and good looks that are muted enough to last and strong enough to get noticed. For a V6, the Tiburon leaves something to be desired in the power department. It does not have the kind of torquey pull you want to feel when you slam on the gas. Downshifting doesn't seem to make a big difference on the high end either. But power is there where and when you need it. Just don't expect it to give you a big thrill. Suspension is RIGID and taking ridges and bumps at an angle will lift one of the corners into the air easily. Nevertheless, Electronic Stability Control keeps the Tiburon pointed straight. The tight body and heavy curb weight gives the car some authority as you cruise down the road, even in a heavy crosswind. Common complaints about the lack of rear seat space... why would you buy a sports coupe? Trunk is small as well but has a wealth of discrete storage compartments. The engine compartment affords plenty of working space for modders and maintenance as does the inside of the center control panel. Projector headlights give a clear cutoff and are easy to aim without any tools. The SE V6 has a dual tip exhaust that gives a tone and hum that rivals higher end racers, subtle enough to be stock, but satisfying on startup. Overall, the Tiburon is plenty fun to drive, feels safe and runs strong. It is not as fast or powerful as other more expensive cars, but it will run and it will last. CONS: It IS small and does not give you a lot of space... but if you're commuting in this car, it shouldn't be a big deal... enough space for the weekly groceries at least. The stock clutch is weak and does seem to want to slip even though it engages just fine. Upgrade with a heavier clutch when its ready for a change.
I really enjoy this car! It rides really well, has good pick up when I need it to and I think it is a very attractive car. It has its blind spots like most little sporty 2 door cars but I am used to that so it hasn't been much of a problem for me. It handles really well and is a lot of fun to drive. It takes a little more gas at the pump that I expected but still not bad at all. Not the best car for people who need to take a lot of people with them because the backseat is barely a backseat. It really can fit 2 small girls comfortably but that is even pushing it a little. People like me though who usually aren't driving a big group around can really enjoy this car and I think it's great!
The car looks good but very uncomfortable for distance - has blind spots due to sitting so low to the ground. The power is not what you would expect when you see the car.
