We bought this vehicle for a family of 5 to replace an aging minivan. Comes with lots of geegaws, which my wife loves, but some trim bits are coming off. Feels solidly built excepting the 'clink' of the rear doors when closed. Steering feel is typical Hyundai vague but my wife likes that. Visibility is outstanding. Engine has plenty of power and MPG is close to claims.
Knew I was going to buy a Hyundai because of the positive reports I had read about their cars and warranty. I was set on the Santa Fe, but at the last minute decided to go with the Veracruz. It is a little bigger and seemed to get the same mileage rating, more or less. I test drove both models and absolutely loved the way the Veracruz handled and how comfortable it is. Too bad I didn't have that third row seating when my kids were younger, but it is a nice feature even without lots of kids. I always wish to get better mileage, but I need a car to fit my 4 dogs so that is the sacrifice I make driving a bigger car. I get about 20 MPG with 50-50 split of city/freeway driving.
I was unsure about buying a Hyundai, as I had a little one back in the day, and it was a piece of junk! But, just one test drive and I was smitten. The Limited version that I purchased comes with every luxury extra that I could dream of. It's beautiful on the inside and the outside. My kids love the TV, and the wireless earphones make the back seat quieter than it's ever been with two boys! No more fighting! The third row of seats has already come in handy for driving around friends, and when I go to the grocery store, it folds down VERY easily to load all my groceries. I have been very happy with the gas mileage, and the handling. It turns tighter than my Toyota Avalon, and I love the fact that it sits high, but does not ride like a truck. If you are not sure because it's a Hyundai, give it a test drive. I'm sure it will win you over too.
