Knew I was going to buy a Hyundai because of the positive reports I had read about their cars and warranty. I was set on the Santa Fe, but at the last minute decided to go with the Veracruz. It is a little bigger and seemed to get the same mileage rating, more or less. I test drove both models and absolutely loved the way the Veracruz handled and how comfortable it is. Too bad I didn't have that third row seating when my kids were younger, but it is a nice feature even without lots of kids. I always wish to get better mileage, but I need a car to fit my 4 dogs so that is the sacrifice I make driving a bigger car. I get about 20 MPG with 50-50 split of city/freeway driving.
It's a great car and fits my tall family very well. The cabin is very roomy. Good gas mileage for its size and smooth ride on road trips. Love having the 3rd row when my kids friends are going places with us.
