Not a true Infiniti
2004 Infiniti M45Achtung - Boston MA01/19/2008
Unfortunately, a car to be avoided. Oil eating engines are common knowledge among the few owners of this car! I thought this was a rare occurrence....turns out the first M45 engine with 36K whose oil level I checked on was almost dry! Second one I looked at another dealer with 54K was a hair above the min.....To me this was an indicator that the reports of engines consuming oil so fast that unless the owner is meticulous about checking the oil you could have a problem engine with even a low mileage car if it was run low for any length of time.....And from my research Infiniti will not replace engines even under warranty for high oil consumption. I liked the looks of the car but this has caused me to steer away from this vehicle. So buy at your own risk unless you can get your hands on every oil change record that comes with a used one! If the seller cannot provide maintenance records this would be a vehicle to avoid buying unless you want to deal with engine problems down the road....I found this after I bought my car!

If you don't want to fork out $75 for oil changes about every 1200 miles don't by this car! You'll be searching for a oil leak this car burns oil so fast. Early models are better.... But buying a six year old oil burner is not wise unless you know for sure the last owner loved oil changes.
