We bought our QX56 to replace a mini-van. We have 3 teenagers one is 6'5". This SUV has great interior space. The week after our purchase, we drove 16 hours to Florida. The ride was very comfortable for all of us. Plenty of room for us to spread out and for our "stuff". We did use the roof rack, which I think added to the poor gas mileage. We averaged 12city/ 16mpg on highway. We also bought it to tow a camper, but have yet to do that. Overall I love the look and comfort of this vehicle. I have always wanted to buy one of these. The CarMax deal was great, the SUV is in great shape for its age. Only 30,000 miles on it. The only problem is...my kids want to drive it! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to make the change to a larger SUV, away from the mini-van.
Great BIG SUV

If you are looking for a luxury SUV that fits all your kids and all your stuff, this is a great way to go. All the features you could ever dream of are pretty much standard, and even though we came into the car at almost 60K miles and over 5 years of use, it still feels like a new car. The ride is super smooth, car has plenty of power to get you around in the city and on the highway. We are only getting around 15 MPG highway, and overall just over 11 or 12 MPG, which is shameful, but if you want a V-8 on a big truck, that is about what you should expect. Power folding 3rd row seats are a huge plus. Wish we had a cargo net. Yet to test the 4wd and towing, but look forward to it.
