This car is slow to accelerate and I believe transmission problems are impending. The transmission light has come on already at 4x,xxx miles. Took it to have it checked and ended up having to come out of pocket for a loaner vehicle as it was at the dealership for a week. The transmission light is off but it still hesitates while I'm driving and accelerates extremely slow. I am not at all happy with this vehicle that I will be paying on for quite sometime.
At 40000 miles it had a massive oil leak. At 41000 miles it was back in the shop due to problems with the ignition coils or something. From the beginning It has felt like the transmission is not shifting correctly. It was in the shop twice for it and they say nothing is wrong. Only solution given to me was drive it until it really breaks down. (That's good sound advice. Just hope the wife kids are not on the highway when it does break down).
Overall, a pleasant car. Drives well, with the V-6 engine the power is more than adequate and the fuel economy is excellent. The transmission is the odd part of the performance picture. It has nine speeds, but it sometimes feels like it cannot decide which of the nine speeds is the appropriate one for the situation. There is a large gap in the lower gears, and sometimes it lurches when it downshifts at a speed just above idle as it shifts to a lower gear. Conversely, it is often lazy about shifting down a gear at higher speeds and it seems to lug a bit before finally changing down a gear. We have adapted to these behaviors, but I cannot say that we are really happy with them overall.
