Jeep has outdone itself!! I truly believe it is the Daimler influence (which makes Mercedes) combined with American comfort. This car is a dream. It drives better and smoother than my wife's Mercedes ML500. It is 1/2 the payment....with more power and luxury. Thank you Jeep. Luxury...Power...Comfort...Handling.... Honestly, the more I drive this "luxury sedan-like" Jeep....the more I love it. My friends typical comment is "THIS IS A JEEP???". As far as Which Commander to Go with?? The 5.7 V8 is the way to go. The Overland will give you everything you want in options...the only thing we added was the Sirius Backseat Entertainment (which keeps the baby happy). I was looking at a Limited with all the options.....the Overland already came with all the options and cost me less. I have a Mercedes sedan sitting in my driveway that I will sell. I haven't driven it since I purchased the Commander....I just start it up on weekends to make sure the engine gets some work. I never thought I would say this.....but if you want a better ride than the benz...test drive this car. It is a dream. Anything Negative??? I didn't buy this car expecting amazing gas mileage. The benefit (again...coming out of a Benz) is that I can finally use Regular Unleaded again. Honestly....gas mileage is not that bad and this car is worth it. Drive it....and you'll buy it. Buy it....and you'll love it. GREAT JOB JEEP....A PERFECT "10"
I previously owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.7L engine, which was a great vehicle. I am very pleased with my Commander. Although it has a 3.7L engine, it has more than enough power. I am very pleased with the spacious interior and appointments. As I am a photographer who transports a lot of equipment, I am very satisfied with the cargo space when the third row seat is down. I am very statisfied that I got a great vehicle for my money.
My old 1998 Acura cl just wasn't cutting it after I rescued not 1 but 2 St. Bernards from the local dog pound. Try to imagine getting both 135 lbs.+ dogs into a two door coupe. One sitting in the back and one sitting shotgun in the front seat... it's not an easy task! I decided to upgrade to a vehicle that could accommodate both dogs, my girlfriend and myself all at the same time. The Jeep commander was a very good choice. It has 3rd row seating that folds down. I had my friend who is 6'3'' sit in the third row seat for the test drive to get his opinion on the comfort. His head had plenty of clearance from the roof of the car. It also has a roomy back seat that comfortably seats 3 average size adults. Front seats are average comfort in my opinion. Acceleration is a bit sluggish. The heat and a/c really crank out the temp. on demand. My biggest complaint is the mpg which averages out to about 15 mpg. Chewy, Diesel, Tiffany and myself are happy with the purchase overall.
