Jeep Commander Review
2006 Jeep CommanderJess - Lake Charles, LA12/03/2009
My husband & I decided on a Jeep Commander because it met both of our needs. The Jeep commander limited has all the levels of luxury that I was looking for, but at the same time has all the hauling capabilities that my husband was looking for. I have had the Jeep for about two months now, and I am really happy with the purchase. We love our Jeep!
I RESEARCHED THE COMMANDER FOR QUITE SOME TIME BEFORE I DECIDED TO PURCHASE THE VEHICLE. I ALREADY KNEW ABOUT THEIR POOR FUEL MILEAGE, BUT I DIDNT REALLY CARE ABOUT THAT. I FIGURE I PARKED MY OLD TRUCK AT 10 MPG TO BUY THE JEEP AT AN AVERAGE FOR ME SO FAR OF ABOUT 13.3 MPG. HMMM, I CAN LIVE WITH THAT. THE PERFORMANCE FROM THE 4.7L V8 IS MILD, BUT CAN BE QUITE A BEAST IF YOU DECIDE TO USE THE AUTOSTICK AND SHIFT IT YOURSELF. TORQUE IS WONDERFUL, I HAVE ALREADY PULLED OUT SEVERAL TREES WITH THE JEEP. THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM IS PRETTY GOOD, HAVENT NOTICED VERY MUCH INTRUSION FROM THE TRACTION CONTROL, EXCEPT WHEN ON VERY ROUGH ROADS. (I ADVISE TURNING IT OFF FOR ROUGH, COUNTRY BACK ROADS). IT FITS ME AND MY TWO KIDS JUST FINE, WITH ROOM FOR THE LUGGAGE AND THE DOG IN THE BACK WITH THE 3RD ROW DOWN.
It has been a good value since it is a nice roomy vehicle with over 110k and I paid under 30k for it. Roomy, spacious, car like ride and handling. I have taken good care of the car (body, interior, mechanically) and has a lot more life left in it. Has 4.7 V8 and wish I would have had the Hemi engine. I have done some heavy towing over he years and recently had to replace engine due to broken connecting rod. Good for another 100k now.
