Overall, for a 4x4 from Jeep, this is a pretty good vehicle. I've only had one problem, the very well noted window regulators failing and having to get repaired. Within 45 days of my purchase, I've had to get two windows repaired with an upgraded part that hopefully will not fail again. Gas mileage is fair, about 22 mpg, although better than the 2003 Chevrolet Silverado with an 8 cylinder I got rid of. It's not the smoothest ride, but performs great under acceleration and demanding 4x4 conditions. Great price for the value you get.
We bought a 2006 in november and think it rides well and is comfortable compared to my other 2000 Jeep Cherokee. Only complaint, and that is the back is tight for a car seat.
If you are a shorter person I think you will find the Jeep Liberty to your liking. I am 5'4" and absoliutely love driving my Liberty. I can see traffic ahead of me and its absolutely the easiest verhicle I have ever parked! I did mention that I am 5'4" -- but I want to let you know that even if you are taller this vehicle will be comfortable for you. My boyfriend who is 6'1" loves driving it too! The Liberty has great styling and for a 6 cylinder it has gusto! I had owned another 6 cylinder SUV previously and was disappointed in its acceleration -- this is not a problem with the Liberty. I have the Limited Edition and like its exterior styling especially the chrome grill. I smile everytime I see it in the parking lot! The interior comfort is adequate. I often drive it back to viisit family in the midwest which is a 350 mile one way trip and have found the seat comfort to be acceptable. When you are buying a Jeep, remember you are not buying a luxury vehicle. It is a SUV! It has handled well in wet road conditions. I like to location of the cruise controls (on the steering wheel). The sound system is good too! I think you will be very pleased with this cute little SUV. Its a great buy for the money.
