Bought the vehicle when living in Lake Tahoe. Snow drifts, cliff climbing and sure feeling on the road no problem. Comfortable with the little beast on the icy roads switched up tires to Yokohama all terrain. Drove in and out of construction job sites, rough terrain and had no problem with 4 wheel performance. Take it for maintenance and shop help is amazed at the age of the vehicle. Definitely a cool timeless style. The only down side for me is gas milage. Realistic is 15 city and 20 hwy. For surety on the road (height of an SUV and good visibility, I am super pleased with the investment.
The liberty is a smooth and quiet ride with very good steering and handling. Interior is well designed w/ easy to reach controls that aren't complicated to learn. 4WD performance is adequate for all but the most grueling trails, but you wouldn't take a stock vehicle on those. Storage is quite good for a small SUV. My only complaint is that it's just a bit too small of an interior to be comfortable for several hours of straight driving. Power is acceptable and pulls a small boat or trailer easily through the hills though don't expect to win any drag races even while not towning. I only rate this "good" because the small interior does come at a bit of a sacrifice to my family's comfort. I'm 6' 1" & 240lbs.
Had our jeep for about a month now, covered for 150000 miles, great miles for the price. Got the exact one we wanted v6 manual trans and four wheel drive, its been to the beach (and on the beach) 2x in this month and it loves it. I figured it would be hard to find those features with a sunroof too, which we love. Plan to put a Cold air kit on it for a little more umph and a roof rack, lift kits are cheap but thats a long way down the road, Would love to post picks soon, but I havent done anything cosmetic like bigger tires or anything because the ones that came on it are brand new!I will add pics soon though once we get safari roof rack. Once again, sunroof, black, manual trans w/ cruise, v6 power, and four wheel drive, plus dvd player is exactly what we wanted and found it on first day of looking for it, nobody else had it... We love it, especially my daughter and her" theatre as she calls it! hey when the kids are happy every ones happy on long trips!!!
