The Most Comfortable car I've ever owned! I easily drove to Tennessee more than 10 hours with no discomfort! I recently had a horrific accident last mos totalling My Jeep. I hit a black Angus Cow @ 65 miles per hour! the car was destroyed, but we walked away from the wreck with minimal bruising from the air bags. the People at the Hospital said Unbelievable, that Car saved Your life! I am waiting for my Replacement 2012 Jeep Liberty to come in soon! i cant wait, Im sad to see it has been discontinued that year, because the Jeep patriot took its place. and its No way close to being , as Awesome as the 2012 Jeep Liberty!
Bought the vehicle when living in Lake Tahoe. Snow drifts, cliff climbing and sure feeling on the road no problem. Comfortable with the little beast on the icy roads switched up tires to Yokohama all terrain. Drove in and out of construction job sites, rough terrain and had no problem with 4 wheel performance. Take it for maintenance and shop help is amazed at the age of the vehicle. Definitely a cool timeless style. The only down side for me is gas milage. Realistic is 15 city and 20 hwy. For surety on the road (height of an SUV and good visibility, I am super pleased with the investment.
Jeep vs. Acura
2003 Jeep LibertyGolfin' Fool - Atlantic Beach, FL12/15/2007
First time owner of a Jeep, I like sitting higher off the ground -- it's got a lot of head room. I don't need to "pamper" this sport utility like my Acura -- it gives me a "rugged, out-doorsy" feeling. It's definitely a different ride from my Acura in terms of smoothness, but I don't mind driving it off road or brushing against branches. It's not as wide or as long as my Acura....I have to remove my driver from my golf bag to fit my clubs in horizontally....and the headrests can't be removed so the front seats have to be moved forward quite a bit to in order for the back seats to lie somewhat flat....that's definitely a design flaw! The Jeep Liberty is a good looking vehicle .... it's amazing how many are on the road now that I have one!
Jeep Liberty Overview
As a spiritual successor to the Jeep Cherokee (which returned in 2014), the Jeep Liberty has everything you would expect - it has good off-road capability, control, and utility. This five-passenger compact SUV is also affordable, keeping it ahead of the pack.
Jeep Liberty History
Debuted in 2002, the Jeep Liberty was the spiritual successor to the Jeep Cherokee and was continuously upgraded throughout its run. It received its first full redesign in 2008, which refreshed its appearance to give the Liberty a more classic Jeep feel. Since its cosmetic redo, the four-cylinder engine option was discontinued to leave the 3.7L V6 engine as the only available option.
How It Drives
As one of the few truly off-road vehicles in its class, this vehicle is best in situations that many other cars cannot handle well. Namely, slippery rock, mud, and snow are barely a challenge to the Jeep Liberty. In contrast, the Liberty is not fully refined on-road, though later editions and modifications to the suspension layout have made it better for highway driving and urban living than previous versions. On some higher trims, the interior is upgraded to be more comfortable for drivers and passengers alike.
Used Jeep Liberty Value
The Jeep Liberty, even in later editions, operates similarly to its original models. Most of its changes over the years were cosmetic. With the Jeep Cherokee revived, the Jeep Liberty is decidedly more affordable when shopping for used compact SUVs with off-road capabilities.
Jeep Liberty Standard Features
The 2008 Liberty is available with a choice between four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive. In recent models, the Jeep Liberty is equipped with a 3.7L V6 engine with either a six-speed manual transmission or an optional four-speed automatic. Otherwise, expect the same or equivalent features found in each compact SUV in its class.
