Fun off-road and sport vehicle at a great price

2013 Jeep Wrangler John Hammond - Punta Gorda, FL 06/15/2015

Great off-road vehicle...fun to drive...easy to park and maneuver in traffic...take out the backseat and lots of room to haul gear, dogs, etc.

I've always wanted a Jeep..love it!!

2013 Jeep Wrangler T. - THORNTON, CO 11/21/2014

It's nice to take to the mountains and go in deep places a normal vehicle wouldn't go. Like the tuffness!

Low-mileage Jeep for less than new

2013 Jeep Wrangler Jerry Miller - Chicago, IL 05/11/2015

This Wrangler had a brand-new feeling. It was several thousand dollars lower in cost than an actual brand-new Jeep. Jeep Wrangler came with hard top but easily was converted to a convertible with after-market soft top for the summer. Great snow vehicle and great summer vehicle.

2013 Jeep Wrangler Overview

The first Jeep Wrangler was announced in 1986 at the Chicago Auto Show, and was designed to take over the previous Jeep CJ-7 model. Over the years, it has seen a variety of redesigns and upgrades, and the 2013 was no exception to this. Specifically, the 2013 Wrangler saw the following improvements and changes:

  • Easier rear-seat folding
  • New seats and interior trim
  • New tire pressure monitoring system
  • Premium Alpine sound system

Furthermore, Unlimited versions of the 2013 Wrangler came with an easier-to-operate soft top, along with the option to upgrade to a premium soft top.

2013 Jeep Wrangler History

It's no secret that the Jeep Wrangler is well known for its off-road capabilities, so it should come as no surprise that this is where the 2013 Wrangler really shines. Whether you're driving on city streets, dirt roads, or off the beaten path entirely, this SUV will have no trouble getting you where you need to go. Off-road durability is especially impressive in the upgraded Rubicon trim.

Unfortunately, where the 2013 Jeep Wrangler lacks is in its smoothness and noise levels. Wranglers (and Jeeps in general) have been notorious over the years for their road and wind noise, and the 2013 Wrangler only perpetuates this stereotype. Still, there's no terrain that this vehicle can't handle, and you'll be hard-pressed to find a better off-road SUV.

Used 2013 Jeep Wrangler Value

With their high demand, 2013 Jeep Wranglers tend to hold their value well when compared to other terrain vehicles on the market, and you'll pay a hefty price tag for the Jeep brand. It's also interesting to note that the Wrangler seemingly stands in a class of its own, and there aren't many other vehicles to compare it to. The Nissan Xterra is likely the closest competitor, and while the Xterra has a significantly smaller price tag, the Wrangler offers a better overall value. The Xterra simply cannot compare in terms of off-road capabilities.

Design & Performance

If you're looking for a vehicle with a distinctive design, look no further than the 2013 Jeep Wrangler. Not much has changed in terms of the exterior design of the Wrangler over the years, though there are a few differences in the design of the 2013 Wrangler from one trim level to the next. The biggest differences are in ground clearance and wheel height. Some additional design features include:

  • Removable half- or full-size doors
  • Standard full-size spare tire (mounted)
  • Ability to fold down windshield

In terms of performance, some drivers have noted that the Wrangler's signature boxy design leads to poor maneuverability and handling. Fuel economy is also lacking, with an EPA-estimated 17 mpg city and 21 mpg highway.

Powertrain & Engine

Even in the base model of the 2013 Jeep Wrangler, drivers will enjoy a powerful engine. Specifically, the Wrangler comes standard with a 3.6L V6 engine providing 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Another feature that many drivers enjoy about this SUV is that four-wheel drive comes standard (including low and high transfer gears), which you don't find in many SUVs these days. A six-speed manual transmission comes standard, though buyers have the option to upgrade to a five-speed automatic if desired.

The 2013 Jeep Wrangler has no problem accelerating from zero to 60 in anywhere between seven and nine seconds, depending on which trim you choose and whether you opt for the two- or four-door version.

Body Style & Interior Comfort

The 2013 Jeep Wrangler is all about function, but still isn't completely lacking in comfort. The two-door version offers more storage space but will only seat two passengers. The four-door is a better choice for most, offering additional seating and up to 86 cubic feet of storage with rear seats folded. Additional interior features include:

  • 41 inches of front passenger legroom
  • 35.6 inches of rear passenger legroom
  • Six-way adjustable driver seat

All 2013s also come with cloth seats for easy cleaning.
