Excellent vehicle for both ride and comfort. The vehicle is quiet and handles well in all weather. Very happy with the purchase.
Okay, so like so many others we too were surprised & said.."It's a Kia? Wow!". We were trying to decide between the GMC Acadia & the Borrego. LOVE the body styling of the Acadia. But after reading thousands of reviews & test driving several Acadias & Borregos. Every time, the Borrego out performed in tow capacity, acceleration, build quality, ride quality, comfort & RELIABILITY. Pros: Interior design is intuitive-very user friendly--not distracting, not outdated. Digital compass & exterior temp reading is a plus. For those w/iphone4? There's a media port to charge phone & access music. You will need an adaptor for it--but it's cheap ($25), works well & easy to find on amazon.com. Leather & trim is very good quality. We live in high foothills above a valley in Ca. We avg 22mpg driving up & down "the hill". On hwy flatland we consistently get 25-28mpg! HIGHER THAN STICKER ESTIMATE. Easily seats 7 adults comfortably. Very responsive handling. 3.8L V6 has LOTS of power--feels more like a v8 but w/wayy better gas mileage. Turning radius is ridiculous. It's awesome. Truck chassie is firm but ride quality is very quiet & comfortable. We have 4 children--our youngest a baby & never had an issue with bouncing all over the road or vibration. Overall it's super fun to drive. Also it tows up to 5000# w/out issue. Lastly, we got the leather pkg w/all the bells & whistles w/only 11K miles for a good 4K less than a base pkg Acadia. If Kia brought the Borrego back at this quality of construction, we would definitely purchase another. Three small cons: Cargo space, dual zone not tri-zone a/c & the Borrego was only made ONE YEAR. First..the cargo space SUCKS. But a folding hitch mounted cargo carrier remedied that. Second issue: The Borrego does have a third row a/c option but it's almost impossible to find. We didn't find one. HOWEVER..the a/c in second row is quite powerful. It circulates air & cools down second & third rows very fast. A huge plus living in a place w/consistent triple digit weather in the summer. Third & final issue: The Borrego was released in 2009 when crossovers were purported to be more green & the new "it" vehicle. Bad timing & perhaps a premature response on Kia's part to discontinue. Overall if Kia brought the Borrego back w/the same build quality. We'd definitely purchase another.
Model was produced for only 2 years and as a result, parts are only available from Kia at premium prices.
