We are very happy with our Kia Optima. I will admit, when we purchased it, our most recent vehicle was a 2004, so it had been a while since we got a new car. But it has all the modern bells & whistles, which you would expect on a Toyota or Nissan or anything else. Yet it was very affordable. We love the styling, the smooth acceleration, the feel of the car on the road--altogether very satisfied.
Don't buy without an extended test drive. Pay attention to the steering.

It is one of many that have a well documented steering problem. It will NOT drive in a straight line - it drifts. It is not a "pull" but the driver must continually make "micro-adjustments" to keep the car in the lane. It is VERY annoying and physically tiring.
2015 Kia OptimaGary Unferth - Knoxville, TN01/16/2016
SXL has great features and good performance overall. Rating reflects seating. Seat adjustment is ergonomically poor on drivers. You will constantly find yourself adjusting the position to find a good one. On the passenger side there is NO HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT! This is the top line model! Rest of interior, especially doors, is bare plastic. I would not buy another Kia.
