It's "cute" - it's "snappy," easy to zip in and out of parking, traffic and that's the only good thing I have to say about the 2009 Kia Rio.
What's wrong: horrible and unsafe braking system - do not even think about trying to drive this car in snow/ice or rain. How I know - I was one of the few cars that was fish-tailing all over the interstate when we got a ice and snow storm. You could not apply even the slightest touch to the brake. My ONLY choice was to slam into he stopped car in front of me or, ever-so-lightly, touch the brake to avoid the rear end ad then slide sideways on the iersate (at no time was I going over 15 miles an hour). Yhis occurs because the Rio (at least mine) has very, very graby brakes. It is completely unsafe on ice or snow - maybe even heavy rain - don't know about that yet!
Seat options are pathetic, no auto door locks so you have to go around to every door and lock them separately - good luck unlocking the back doors, I didn't think I would miss auto windows- oh yes you do!!
Gas mileage isn't as good as one would have thought being such a small stripped down model. Where's the temp indicator?
I will never recommed this care to anyone and I am so sad that it was recommended to me and that someone didn't talk me out of it. Cheap, yes - good deal NO!!!!!!
Adore my car. Drives well cleans easy
