The staff at Edmunds.com tested the current version of the Sedona for a year and raved about it. Their typical comments wondered why more people weren't buying a Sedona over the much more popular Sienna or Odyssey. Frankly, it seemed obvious to me since Kia/Hyundai did not have the best reputation among Asian automakers. But the fact is this company has made huge strides in quality production in the past few years and their cars are now serious contenders. We decided to check out the Sedona after reading the Edmunds blog and talking to friends who own one. After the test drive, we were convinced, too. The Sedona drives like a sports car, with tight steering and a lively suspension. The V6 engine has a surprising amount of kick. Yet on a 2,500 mile round trip vacation this summer we consistently got 25 combined MPG. We love the seating configurations and storage capacity, especially the cargo well in the back that holds the rear seats when they're folded flat. The air conditioning is super-powerful, the brakes are flawless, and the other controls are mostly intuitive and thoughtfully arranged. We would like the front seats to be a bit more comfortable for the long hauls, and some of the controls and interior materials seem to be lacking in quality. But overall we're very pleased about our decision to go with the Sedona. I urge any family in need of a minivan not to pass it up as you make your choice.
We drove the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna, but were taken with the Kia Sedona. It has all the bells and whistles, but without the price tag. We were most impressed with its safety rating and this particular model year scored high for reliability as well. Only time will tell, but I am afraid resale value will be the only downside. But for now, this vehicle has everything we could possibly want in a minivan, and drives like a dream!
Best car we have ever owned great gas mileage plenty of room looks great.
