Kia Sedona-Good Value
I bought my 2011 Sedona with 11.8k miles on it. It replaced a 2004 Sedona. Many improvements are evident in the new model. The acceleration is quite brisk, and if you use the Eco system, you can get a good 25-27 MPG on the open road (if you can find one). Fit and finish are good. The sound system is pretty good for a basic factory system. Built in bluetooth and voice recognition work well. Satellite radio also works well. Plenty of storage and cup holders. If I were to list my biggest gripe, it would be the rear seat access. The middle seats tumble forward, but they don't always tumble, and it is still a tight fit to get back there. There is good room back there once you are in, it is just getting in and out that is more difficult. The climate system works well, for the front and the rear. I installed a trailer hitch to haul bikes around. Overall, it is a solid buy if you plan on keeping it until you drive it into the ground. The resale value on these is not good (unless you are the buyer), so plan on keeping it around...
It has plenty of room for legs. It rides well. It is comfortable. When seats are removed or folded down, plenty of space to haul things. Good gas mileage on highway but less around town. Plenty of room to haul grand kids and adults.
Lots of quirks for 19,000 miles
the service engine light went on 3 different times within the first 100 miles we drove it. The "tire pressure" warning light is going on, but playing with pressure gauges and ensuring proper inflation several times hasn't shut it off. The rear trunk latch has some sort of poor design; it takes an extremely hard slam (im a 6 foot man and I really have to wham it) to get it to secure. Otherwise, the "rear hatch ajar" light comes on after you are backing out of your driveway and the first forward momentum moves that rear door a bit. I dislike the arm rests for the driver and front passenger. They are really narrow, and they pivot very tightly, requiring a bit too much effort. The "economy" light is a stupid distraction in stop and go traffic. This light is telling you, when lit, that your speed and acceleration patterns will optimize your gas mileage. This is nice for highway driving, but the little green light flashing on and off....placed prominently next to the speedometer...is not good placemetn and is distracting. The horn is WEAK. A vw bug or a miata have a more attention getting sound.
