Reviews for 2012 Kia Sorento
2012 Kia Sorento
I looked for a long time at various mid-size, small SUV's (crossovers?). I had a full size Chevy Tahoe (which I loved), but it had way more room than I needed, did not get good mpg and was getting close to 200k miles on it. And, I had a friend who wanted to buy the Tahoe. I rented a Toyota Rav-4 on a week vacation and really liked the smaller, easier to drive, better mpg vehicle. I narrowed my choices down to the GMC Terrain, Ford Edge and Kia Sorento. Actually, I first went to look at the Kia Sportage after seeing one on the road (it looked great!). But, after driving both, the Sorento was definitely more what I was looking for. I was unsure about the Terrain's looks. I also heard from a few Terrain owners who had so-so opinions of it. And, it offered no power passenger seat. The Kia and Ford had the option of the panoramic (huge, double) sunroof, which I really liked. The Kia and Ford both drove better than the GMC, with the Kia being the best, tight, sporty feel. The Kia had a ton of power and got a little better mpg. And, the Kia had a few more things which set it apart. Heated and cooled seats, push button start, the best stereo I've ever heard in any car (Inifinity 10 speaker), wood trim inside, navigation, etc. And, the Kia was at least $3-5k less than the Ford. And, the Kia had a better warranty and may even look a little better than the Ford. All in all, the Kia offered way more bang for the buck. And, the Kia is made in a new, state of the art factory in West Point, Georgia! I've had the Kia for 3,000 miles. I've taken around town and longer trips. It's terrific. It drives like a much more expensive car. Around town, I get about 22 mpg (if I buy 100% gas, no ethanol, about 20-21 with 10% ethanol fuel) and about 26 on the highway. I generally keep cars a long time (8+ years). I hope the Kia continues to please. Look and compare for your needs. But, for me...the Kia Sorento is highly recommended! Also, CarMax was a terrific buying experience. Good price and no misery of haggling.
Just what we were looking for.
Before purchasing this car we spoke to a mechanic and asked what his thoughts were on this car. He said that they are very good cars with minimal problems. They have improved greatly since they began selling these cars. The price was right. It costs less than $40 dollars to fill this car with gas. I get approximately 400 miles each time I fill it up. I am on the petite side and I find that it fits me very well. My husband on the other hand would like a bigger model SUV. I love how it handless he road for me. This car has the third row of seats (it is a bit tight in the back) which was another thing I was looking for, so another item on my checklist was checked off. It has air vents in the back so it is comfortable in that way.
This price does not include tax, title, and tags. Additional fees may also apply depending on the state of purchase.
