2010 Kia Soul Sport

2010 Kia Soul timk440 - Sacramento CA 04/15/2011

So we've had this car about 6 weeks now, and overall we like it. The Soul Sport comes with the 2.0 engine and we got it with the 5 speed manual transmission, so pickup is adequate, even though it really could use a 6th gear for highway driving. The low profile tires make for a busy ride, and somewhat noisy at freeway speeds, but they do make handling better. One thing that surprised us was that the car had four wheel disc brakes. The 2010 Soul specifications were for discs in the front and drums in the rear. (I had heard stories about how quickly Hyundai/Kia can retool and change a model- sometimes in a model year, but this was the first time that its happened to me. Kudos, Kia!) We are getting about 25 mpg over all, with a 50/50 mix of highway and city driving. Steering is tight, with a firm ride. On the inside, the car seems well made, but the hard plastics do rattle a tad. There is plenty of room for four adults, and even for five, if they are friendly, but very little storage. A major plus is that the rear seat folds down flat, not at an angle like most of the cars that we saw. Front seats go forward and back; seatbacks go up and down, and the seats bottoms can be lowered or raised- but the angle of the seat bottoms cannot be changes. Also there is no lumber support. :( The sound system is great for such an inexpensive car, with a decent radio, Sirius Satellite Radio, single CD player with MP3 capability, a USB port for jump drives, and audio in jack, and an iPod jack. It even has Bluetooth, but not for streaming music over the sound system- for phone calls only. One caveat: The Bluetooth synchronization sucks, well, at least for me. Every time that I want to connect my phone via Bluetooth, the system insists on synchronizing my contacts (for the 'voice dial' that doesnt work very well). With almost 3000 contacts in my smartphone, I am usually to my location before the car is done synchronizingand in the meantime, the BT (and my phone) is frozen. So Ive given up on using the BT in the car, and gone back to an earpiece. My wifes iPhone is a different matter, with less that 100 contacts she syncs in one to two minutes, and is on her merry way. So, other than the minor issues mentioned above, I am very, very impressed. I would definitely consider buying another Kia again.

Small and sexy fun car for all ages.

2010 Kia Soul Lynda Gibbons - Lancaster, PA 08/27/2016

Wonderful on gas, lots of fun, speakers that light up to music beats make this car unique. Heater and A/C comes on instantly!! Kind of small for a larger person but still comfortable.
