Transmission: Automatic Color:White Interior Color: Black Average Vehicle Review: (4.609375 reviews) This car ranges from great to outstanding in most categories that I was looking for in a car. 1. Interior room. This car can seat 5 adults (including driver) comfotably. 4 Is very comfortable. Lots of leg room in back seat, while maintaining plenty of storage space in the hatch. 2. Power. two DC outlets on driver's column, PLUS two in the hatch. Great for keeping those in the back seat separate from the driver area. 3. Media and Sound System. Integrates phone, USB stick, whatever. Sound system is pretty good, but the 2011 is not Bose. 4. Acceleration. It's actually got great acceleration, especially with the larger motor in the + version. Can easily accelerate into traffic in either neighborhood streets or highway.

Reviews for 2011 Kia Soul

Overall Rating

4.6 out of 5 (64 reviews)

Great buy for the price.

This car ranges from great to outstanding in most categories that I was looking for in a car.

Pros

  • Power: It's actually got great acceleration, especially with the larger motor in the + version. Can easily accelerate into traffic in either neighborhood streets or highway.
  • Interior Space: LOTS of room. around 81" from back gate to A/C knobs. 53" from hatch to back of driver's seat (I'm about 6'.)
  • Technology and Entertainment: USB Integration, mini jack, lots of power.

Cons

  • Fuel Economy: I get an average of 25 MPG. About 24 city, upwards of 28-30 highway. That just isn't very good in today's market. BUT, it is within the advertised gas mileage range, so it was a factor that i kept in mind when choosing a car.
  • Visibility: It's a pretty long vehicle with very small side mirrors. Hard to see when reversing.
  • Ride and Handling: Low Profile wheels lead to a rough ride. It is my MAIN complaint with this car- potholes will go straight through you. It's a rough ride, even with the tires fully pressurized in the 35-40 PSI range. I will be replacing the wheels and tires eventually.

Lots of features for the money!

This little car is very fun to drive, gets good gas mileage, and gets a lot of "CUTE!" comments from others. I could only choose three "pro" attributes so I want to add that the this car's visibility is exceptional. It's also nice to sit higher up than in a regular sedan -- it was a bonus that I wasn't expecting. Overall this was a terrific purchase and I love this car!

Pros

  • Power: Very responsive, no hesitating, quick acceleration, doesn't lose power up hills
  • Value: Great features, like sliding sun visors that extend to cover the entire driver / passenger side window; rear defrost; satellite radio (you pay subscription), HUGE glove compartment w/shelf; plenty of cargo space
  • Ride and Handling: Very responsive steering, easy to parallel park, short wheel base makes it easy to get around crowded places

Cons

  • Cabin Noise: Pretty loud in the cabin at interstate speeds
  • Interior Space: The interior itself is very roomy for such a small vehicle but the smallness is in things like the window sills and arm rest/console. This isn't a major problem but it's noticeable if you go from a larger car to this one. (My previous car was a Volvo Cross Country which had oversize everything.)

Adorable, Functional, Fun!

This little thing is SO fun to drive! It's short so it's very easy to parallel park, you can fill it up with gasoline for under $50 (gas prices at time of writing are between $3.25 and $3.60), and a tank of gas lasts me about 235 miles. The sound system is great, the acceleration and braking speed are crazy-fast, and this little guy handles like a dream. Nice extras: airbags all around (back front, sides), big glove compartment with a shelf, good cargo space, especially with the seats down. The only real con is that the ledges on the windows are very narrow which is somewhat uncomfortable.

Pros

  • Styling: Even strangers come up to me to tell me how cute my car is!
  • Interior Space: Plenty of legroom in the front and back.
  • Visibility: Driver sits up higher than in car, headlights nice and bright

Cons

  • Cabin Noise: It can be kind of annoying on the interstate but for the price it's not such a horrible thing.
