Not knowing much about Kias, I did some research in their ratings for reliability, gas mileage, features, and price. I liked everything I read and bought my Kia about 6 weeks ago. Since then I have fallen in love with it. It has an expensive car feel in its smooth performance and handling without the big ticket price. The gas mileage is fabulous, both on the highway and in town. My friends are jealous at how seldomly I have to put gas in my car! It has all the features that I wanted such as electric windows, cruise control, etc. that didn't come with the base models of other economy cars and the Kia is better than any base model. Having only had my car for 6 weeks, I can't speak to the long term reliability, but so far, not a single problem. I would confidently recommend this to friends and in fact, I have.
I purchased my Kia at about 2 months ago. Here are my two cents: GAS MILEAGE: I average about 28 mpg mixed city/highway driving. I took it on a 400 mile road trip and it averaged 29 mpg but that was at 80 mph with the A/C running so I cannot complain. COMFORT: The ride is firm and much better than I expected from a car this size, especially on the highway. It does lean a bit in tight corners (highway cloverleaf for example) but it is not a sports car so I cannot expect more. The controls are easy to reach and laid out very logically. The adjustable seat height is a plus! QUALITY: Since I have only owned the car 2 months I cannot make an accurate determination on longevity, but the car seems solidly built. It does not have a cheap feel to it like some of the other cars I considered before buying this Kia. VALUE: You certainly get a lot of car for your money. The My Spectra EX is loaded with power windows, locks and (heated) mirrors, keyless entry, cruise control, tilt wheel, and more. I don't think I could have gotten a base model Corolla for what I paid for my loaded Spectra. Time will tell whether or not it will hold up like the Corolla. So far so good! I am definitely please with my purchase and not only would I recommend this car to a friend, I actually have. He was looking for another vehicle to replace his 15 year old 215k mile Volvo. I let him drive mine... and 2 weeks later he got one. He is as pleased as I am. I hope this review helps. It's only my opinion, but that's what this is all about.
We purchased a 2008 Kia Spectra and immediately upon driving it thought this was a great car, it handles very well and has alot of leg room in the back seat. Our Spectra has everything you'd want inside, air, CD, power window & door locks, and locked gas cap, and gets about 32 MPG and that was a great selling point for us. Kia has great warranty packages that cover 10 yrs or 100,000 miles and also include free car washes for life when ever you want and you can get free oil changes also, all you pay is for the oil, its the best car we have bought in a long time and we highly recommend the Kia and we loved it so much we bought another one for my husband, the Rio, its alittle smaller but better on gas and handles very well, great little car for the money.
