I bought this car a week ago, a 2007 Kia Spectra EX with 9,000 miles on it. I couldn't wait for it to go through it's first tank of gas so I could fill it up and see if the mileage was as good as they said it was. It was! I drive city to work and took a couple of highway drives just to see how it performs going 70. I'd read a few, very few, so-so reviews on this car and wanted to see how it would perform for me. Man, it was excellent. On the interstate, I was up to speed and going 70 before I knew it. It has some serious power. I was driving a Chevy Capris,a rather large car, and I thought I would lose some pickup, but I was wrong. Anyway, when I finally went through the original tank of gas, I found out I'd gotten nearly 31 miles to the gallon, and it was 95% city driving! I can't get over how this car comes fully loaded. I'd test driven 2007 and 2008 Chevy's and every little thing costs extra. Not on the Kia, power everything. Airbags...geeze, it has at least 6, I'm thinking it has 8 including the curtian airbags. And room, both of my sons are over 6 ft tall and no one is cramped. One son sitting in the front seat has plenty of room to stretch out his long legs while the one sitting behind him said he has plenty of room for his too. If I didn't see it for myself, I'd not believe them. From the outside, looks like a small car, inside...no so much! My kids hook up their ipods (I've not had a chance to use the cd option yet, though it comes standard too) and rock out to this really decent stereo system. It's so much fun to drive. Being use to a big car, I'm having a ball maneuvering my Kia in and around traffic. With it's size, it's pickup, it's power, and it's incredible safety features, it is so much fun to drive! Getting over 30 miles to the gallon, that's just icing on the cake!
This is an inexpensive small 4 door sedan with a few standard features that normally would not be on a car in this price range. I paid $12,500 for this car with 22,000 miles on it. I thought it was a pretty good deal but I really do NOT like this car. It has had issues from the start with daily problems of the car not starting, bottoms out (horrible suspension) even with minor road flaws, poor pickup when your trying to speed up to get on a highway, constant rushing of water sound everytime I start the vehicle, problems with indoor lights not working, gas gauge not reading properly... If you were only driving around town for short periods of time, I guess it would ok but this car is totally unreliable at best. I would not recommend this vehicle.
I love my Kia. I have to say that this is the second Kia I have had, but this is the first car that I have chosen for myself. The car was in great condition. It is a great price. I am so satisfied with my choice.
