2011 Kia SportageNew Kia Lover - Dallas, Texas11/15/2012
This was our first Kia purchase. We liked the styling of the Kia brand but wasn't sure about their quality. We liked the outside styling of the car immediately when we saw it up close. The exterior lights and color were aesthetically pleasing. The interior really was nice too. The leather was soft and looked expensive compared to other cars in its class. It was roomy without being overdone. We are planning to add to our family soon, so this was important. It has room for lots of groceries, car seats, adults, pets, and all life has to put in a back seat. It has a wonderful open feature to the back door that we really thought would come in handy with kiddos. I liked the easy fold option on the back seats as well as the wonderful panoramic sunroof - bonus! It is nice to take in those few beautiful days here. It is fully loaded and the engine is peppy for a 4-cylinder. It has a real sporty response that feels less like an SUV than others I drove. I loved the menu on the gage that keeps track of MPGs so I don't have to. It even has an eco setting that helps you save gas - genius! We average what the specs were - 21 city but highway was more like 26. In their defense, we had the A/C on and it was a windy trip so I expected it wouldn't reach the 31 goal for highway. I'm looking forward to hitting it though! Overall, we are really pleased with the car. The only draw back so far has been on the roof. The silver paint on the roof rack is peeling. This shouldn't be happening on a 2011. I will address this with Kia & see what they offer. Needless to say, we look forward to many years of driving our new family car. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone.
Style, economy, and space
2011 Kia SportageHoek - Chicago suburbs10/07/2012
We cross shopped a number of compact SUVs and read countless comparison tests before deciding upon the Sportage. While the Kia doesn't have as much cargo space as some of the others, it fit our lifestyle well (one baby, and 3 big dogs). Our 2 golden retrievers and weimaraner fit in the back hatch with the rear seats up for trips to the dog park.
I got 31 mpg on the way home from CarMax, and it seems to be averaging 25-27 mpg with mixed city and hwy driving. Cruising along at 75 mph will only get you about 27 mpg, and you need to stay at 65 mph or below to see 30 mpg or more...
The styling is just great, of course, and the Sportage gives a few thousand in savings compared to buying one of the competitors.
The experience at CarMax was fantastic. We paid to have our Sportage transferred in from another region, and it met our expectations after having a "walkaround" done to answer my questions about the vehicle. Financing was quick and easy with a competitive APR, and the staff I dealt with was friendly and professional. Will certainly buy from again without hesitation!
2011 Kia SportageBob - Wheaton IL09/18/2012
The Sportage SX has great acceleration and styling. For the money, it's a bargain with top notch electronics and an lot of other creature comforts.
I'm a little dissappointed in the rougher ride but I coming out of a sedan. The Sportage is my first SUV.
