Reviews for 2013 Kia Sportage
Kia Sportage Deserves More Popularity
I'd hoped my 2003 Mazda MPV would last just two more years 'til one of two kids was out of college. But, ouch, ended up with a repair estimate that I just couldn't swallow for a 10+ year old vehicle. Though done with shlepping two kids, their pals and gear around, I still needed something with enough cargo space for college move-in/move-outs and other occasional hauling. This 2013 Kia Sportage (with 13,000 mi on the odometer) fit the bill perfectly. The interior feels more upscale, well-designed, comfortable and "jazzy" than the similarly-priced (or even higher-priced) competitors I saw. I feel like I got more amenities for my dollar too. I like the appropriately "sporty" exterior look too, considering the vehicle's name. And, even as a 2nd owner, the Kia warranty is equivalent to most new car warranties (and better when purchased new). My one complaint is that, though the mpg is vastly better than what I'm used to from my old MPV, and while it lives up to its billing for highway driving, on city driving (what I do most of), it falls a little bit short of the advertised mpg. If my driving was more evenly balanced between hwy and city, I think I'd be perfectly satisfied. If I'd had a boatload of money to spend, maybe I would have found a vehicle I liked even better. But, having to unexpectedly add a car payment to my budget, I feel like I got the best possible car. I love it so much that it cheers me up even when I look at the bill (maybe it helps that I got a bright red one). Since purchasing this car, I've been surprised not to see more Kia Sportages on the road. If you're looking for a smaller "crossover" style vehicle, definitely give the Sportage a try.
Nice vehicle at reasonable price
Nice size for small family, easy on gas. Pleasure to drive.
Very happy with the Sportage
Pros: This is a fun little SUV with tons of room and ample power even though its a 4cyl (175hp). I bought it because I started a family and I wanted a hatchback. I've added front window tint, a bike rack and a roof rack for my kayak. I'm an outdoor person and it meets the needs perfectly. There is a nice storage space under the floor in the rear of the hatch. The Microsoft stereo system is very nice. Cons: Brakes are VERY touchy and a little goes a long way. Cabin noise is a little excessive compared to my '07 Camry. Also the ride quality is very bouncy compared to my sedan. This Sportage is a unibody and not built off a truck frame so I expected a little softer ride.
