Don't get me wrong I love this car, the second I drove it I fell in love. But in the first 5 months we discovered my external thermostat needed to be replaced, my alternator needed to be replaced because anytime I made a turn or hit the breaks or accelerated all the lights on my car would flicker. One of the brakes has been catching ever since I bought the car. And lastly the dash warped and of course is not covered.
We love driving this car. The handling feels sporty, yet the ride is smooth and comfortable. The gas mileage surpasses that of some hybrids. We don't often chauffer passengers, but when we do, the back seat comfortably seats two. We have gotten three passengers in the back seat for a short distance, without it feeling terribly cramped. We enjoy the technological features as well.
For the average college student this car perfect. Great gas mileage without the cost of feeling sluggish. the CVT transmission makes it a smooth ride, and the car's acceleration is enough for people who want to feel quick. Trunk and cargo space allows you to haul around 3 other people and have plenty of comfortable space.
This year of Mazda 3's are easily maintained, and have very few recalls. The ones that exist are minor blemishes.
