I have owned many minivans. they are a requirement of being a parent of four children. but, here's the thing. minivans are designed to make you feel... frumpy, soccer mom, no zing left in your life. ok, I am exaggerating, but not by much. Minivans are not for fun, they are functional, grownup, responsible cars. THIS car, however... this car is cool. It handles beautifully, very tight control, and a small turning radius. Good acceleration, and effective brakes. I slammed them during the test drive to make sure. I blow past gas pumps, and I have almost a 40 mile round-trip commute every day. I still have a 1/2 tank of gas... after a WEEK. If Ruby (my car) has a blind spot, i have not found it. well placed mirrors and nice placement of the seat v. the back window. no sneaking up on Ruby. The air movement in the car is very controllable thanks to adjustable vents everywhere. Ergonomically speaking, it is a miracle of design. everything is right at your fingertips. mind you, I have not figured out ALL the buttons, bells and whistles, but I will. Sound system, including the mp3/etc jack is great. All in all great value for the money. Now, there is one drawback to this car. Cargo space. it's there, but you have to give up the third row to get it. So, hold up your hands.. one hand is people, the other hand is stuff. you cannot have both in this car. This lack of space merely makes you simplify your life and have a tidier car. again, a plus for the MazdaMazda5. and, it's fun to say. go ahead, say it. MazdaMazda5... Best part? Ruby smiles at you. don't believe me? check out the pic. Thanks, Terrence and Matt and Jennifer at CarMax. Ruby is a wonderful addition to our family.
Pros: 1. Excellent handling in rain. 2. Great room for family and pets. 3. Folding third row. 4. Many different audio options (FM, AM, CD, USB, Sirius) 5. When you back into your garage door because you forgot to open it, the car will not get damaged. Oops. Cons: 1. Not a lot of storage space between driver and passenger seats. 2. Too many features for kids to play with and ask about. 3. Windows roll all the way down in the back, resulting in children yelling out the window at their friends when leaving school. 4. Picks up speed too quickly on the highway. 5. Brakes too well.
Roomy, fun to drive with great pep and excellent gas mileage! Best minivan I ever owned!
