Customer Review Summary for Mazda Mazda5
AWESOME family car
2008 Mazda Mazda5lovemazda - San Clemente, CA08/23/2009
My husband and I needed a car that would one day be filled with children. However, I wanted a vehicle that didnt' feel like a tank (i.e. SUV) and wasn't a soccer-mom wagon (minivan). Plus, we have 2 large dogs, so if there was SOME way that I could have a vehicle with kids AND pets, it would be perfect. And it WAS. I LOVE this car. The back 2 seats (3rd row) lay flat and the dogs chill there, and car seats for the middle rows. Air blows in the back area seperately from the front.
***ONLY annoyance- headlights don't come on automatically.
The 2.3 liter engine - I think it's peppy. I also like the front seat comfort. It is a 2+2+2 seating arrangement. In my 2010 Mazda 5 cargo volume behind the third row (trunk) is very small but with third row seats folded down it expands to 44 cubic feet and 79 cubic feet with middle row folded down as well. I own a Santa Fe Sport. This Mazda 5 has slightly more room for cargo. We love the individual arm rests for the 4 seats in the front and middle rows. The rear seating is cramped and only small children would fit well. We use it as a very comfortable 4 passenger vehicle with very comfortable seating for all of us, not just the driver. The headroom in the middle accommodates my 6 foot 3 inch son just fine.
Great for small families who want the functionality of a minivan but don't need all the space. Just got 29-30 mpg on a long road trip. Sliding doors are awesome. Driver's seat leg room could be better if the driver is over 6 ft (like myself), but it's not cramped. A bit of road noise, but it drives and handles better than most cars I've driven. Great vehicle!
