2008 Mazda MX-5-MiataMX-5 commuter - San Diego, CA11/16/2012
I needed something fun to drive with decent mpg as my 60 mile/day car. Very happy with the MX-5. Mine is Grand Touring Power Retractable Hard Top, beautiful car. Measured 27 mpg exactly as listed - if I drive conservatively. 25.5 mpg if I have fun. My commute is mostly freeways. I also have a truck if I need more room so I have no problem with the small space of the MX-5. It drives like a sports car so there is some road noise and you feel the bumpy roads - not a luxury car. That said, it is very fun and always feels balanced, great brakes, steering. I have 6-speed automatic due to my commuting and I like the way the transmission is sport-tuned. Give a little gas and it drops 2 gears and takes off! My girlfriend and I enjoy Sunday drives around San Diego, just not the same without a convertible.

No wonder this is the best-selling sports car ever; it's nothing but pure fun! Yes, it is small, but a sports car is supposed to be small. It has plenty of power and pull for the mountains. The ease of lowering and raising the top is wonderful. The car handles beautifully. And while there is not much more trunk space than a small esercise bag, we are learning to pack smarter than we used too. This car is a great experience and an incredible value for anyone that wants this experience.
