152,000 miles and no problems

We bought our Tribute because of the reliablity of our other 2 Mazdas, but oh boy all I can say it WOW am I impressed. I drive about 800 miles a week . I have had to replace the brakes, and now the struts and change oil at 3,000 miles since it was new.I would not change anything about this fun to drive, cheap to operate, machine of mine. I am considering giving this one to the kids at 200k and get a new one just like it.

2001 Mazda Tribute LX

Reliable, Roomy and fun to drive with plenty of power. The 3.0L V6 engine [designed for Ford Taurus] is much better than the 4 cylinder version & V6 model comes with a factory tow hitch bar standard. AWD (All-Wheel Drive) version is definitely worth searching for. The 4x4 option is High range only but effective for highway driving in snow, yet labeled as electric pushbutton 'wheels traction lock' (very confusing). The ride is higher than most SUVs in this class but very comfortable, improving highway vision. The 6-capacity CD Player & sound system is great! The gear shift does get in the way of the rear window defrost button and sound system volume knob, but steering wheel height can be adjusted to compensate. Large console storage compartment and individual releases for tailgate or tailgate window are handy to use.

Pros and Cons

-Seating is comfortable, front and back. -Radio is a little far from driver (would be nice if on steering wheel), also, I tend to hit the gear shift a lot when trying to adjust the radio (My in-laws have a 2003 model that is between the seats, much better location.) -Great cargo room, love the choice between window or entire door, helps when you are located in crammed spaces. -Would have also like to to have automatic car door locking when car put in reverse. (But fortunately has child door locks as the doors can be open from inside even if they are locked.) -also have problem with very squeaky power windows. -and this v6 takes up a lot more gas then my previous one.
