This is a great car for those of us who want to relive our youth with a real roadster. I had an MG when I was in college and have always love it, but it was a 1963 with all the problems that went along with Lucas electrical systems, etc. This car is really well made and it scoots great when you press down on the accelerator, and, thanks, it is an automatic. It corners like it is on rails and look great. It rides on the highway at 80 like my E class MB although you feel the road a bit more. I would recommend this care to anyone who is looking for a car that is 100% fun.
I have wanted a Mercedes convertible since I was in high school. Have owned two BMW 328is and several Volkswagens. The last car was a Passat W8 4motion which was an amazing car! We wanted a small, fun sports car as we have a Land Rover as well. The SLK 280 was the right choice. This car is amazing in every respect. The ride is surprisingly smooth for such a small car. It handles road bumps better than some of the larger sedans I've driven. We had considered the SLK350 which has a little more horse power but this car has plenty and after driving an 8 cylinder for several years I never really felt I was able to enjoy all that power in day to day city driving or at least without getting a ticket. So, we are happy to have the better gas mileage. But don't get me wrong this car can go! Plus, you have the option of driving it manually and your choice of comfort or sports mode as well. We are tall people and have no problem feeling comfortable in the SLK280. There is plenty of head and leg room. The trunk space is small but is more than you might expect. With the top up there is a good deal of space in the trunk for a car this size and still a fair amount with the top down. A medium grocery load is no problem. The satellite radio is a plus especially with the premium Harmon Kardon sound. The audio sound in this car is above average and there is no problem hearing your music with the top down. The hard top convertible is fantastic! It takes seconds to put down or up. It's like having two cars. I have had cloth top convertibles in the past and never felt the car was cool enough in our hot summers, plus road noise was always an issue. Not a problem with this car, put the top up and you are cool as can be and suddenly in quiet. Interior is nice, comfortable and attractive. I could not be happier with my SLK 280 and it only had 8k, got it at a fair price and full factory warranty was in place. If you want a car that is fun to drive with good performance and safety, beautiful to look at and will turn heads this is the car to get!
Some people were surprised when I bought this car because I am 73 years old. I am greatly enjoying it. A fun car. Everything works beautifuly on it, especially the convertible part. Practical car? No. Fun car? Yes. Beautiful styling. Only negative is it only carries 2 passengers and has minimal storage space. Great car, glad I bought it.
