Reviews for 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis
Mercury Grand Marquis
A comfortable car at a great value. It has plenty of power, but is not a barn burner. It is reasonably efficient. If you keep your foot out of it, you can get 25mpg on the road. I believe that it could get even better if the transmission would hold on a little longer to the higher gears. It kicks down over an ant hill the way a Dodge will. Fit and finish are very good. It feels solid on the road, but there is very little feedback from the road. It is a little isolating from the highway. Handling is very good for a large car, in my opinion. I believe that you will like this car if you are looking for a large car with rear wheel drive and a little v8 mill. It is funny, but this car would have been considered a compact family car back in the early 1970s.
End of an era
This is a great model car that has come to it's end. It is my third since 2000 model (all purchased used). It is reliable and comfortable. The latest tank of gas was mostly highway but was 25.2. I still own my 2000 and the 2009 compares favorably. Driving to dinner I had 3 adults in the back with plenty of room. The trunk holds 2 large suitcases and a set of golf clubs, which are in there all the time. Overall for me it was a good choice.
Ten years ago, I wanted to buy a MGM as my first car. My parents talked me out of it. At 27 years, I decided to go ahead and just do it...boy am I glad that I did! I know that people say these cars look "aged," but these are definitely what driving American is all about. Comfort, performance, appearance and reliability are all top-notch...and nothing beats the V8 power. Not gonna lie, MGMs are pretty boss.
